Comics & Board Games Creative Meetup

I’m starting a weekly meetup for people who love making comics, graphic novels, board games, card games, RPGs, and other creative projects.
The goal is simple: create alongside other creative people in a relaxed, welcoming environment where ideas can grow.
You don’t need to have a project already. You don’t need to be an artist. You don’t need to know the rules of game design.
Just bring your curiosity.
How It Works
Every Wednesday we’ll start with a light creative warm-up to get ideas flowing. There won’t be any pressure to immediately make something or have a polished concept. Sometimes the best ideas come from conversation, doodling, asking questions, or bouncing ideas off other people.
After the warm-up, we’ll spend the evening working on our own projects while helping one another along the way.
If you’re stuck, we’ll brainstorm together.
If you’re inspired, we’ll help you keep the momentum going.
Some people may spend the evening sketching. Others might write stories, design characters, build game mechanics, or simply collect ideas for a future project.
Over time we’ll explore different parts of the creative process—storytelling, character creation, worldbuilding, visual design, game mechanics, prototyping, and constructive feedback—but always in a flexible way that supports whatever you’re excited to create.
The goal is progress, not perfection.
What to Bring
- Sketchbook or notebook
- Pens and pencils
- Laptop or tablet (if you use one)
- Any comics, games, prototypes, or projects you’d like to share
- Your imagination
I’ll bring extra paper and facilitate the evening, so if you forget supplies, don’t worry.
Feel free to bring a store-bought, prepackaged snack or drink to share if you’d like. Keeping snacks prepackaged makes it easy, safe, and convenient for everyone.
Looking for a Host Space
I’m looking for a quiet, welcoming place in Berkeley where we can meet every Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
If you have a living room, dining room, backyard, studio, community room, makerspace, or other comfortable space and would be willing to host, I’d love to hear from you. My hope is to find a cozy, consistent place where creative people can gather each week.
