Fastpacking is a combination of trail running and ultralight backpacking. The goal is to move fast and cover long distances while carrying just enough essentials for a multiday journey. A common approach is to: hike the ups, jog the flats, and run the downs.

The purpose of this group is to bring people together from the Bay Area that are interested in training for and planning fastpacking adventures.

This Saturday will be the inaugural event of the Bay Area Fastpacking meetup group! Attendees will be considered Founding Members of the group and will receive a small surprise to commemorate the event!

We will be completing a 16 mile loop at Calero County Park. We will re-group at the trail intersections marked on the map. Between these intersections you are free to travel at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Personally I plan to jog flat sections, hike up hills, and jog or run down hill. You can choose to go faster or slower.

Please bring enough water to keep yourself hydrated and any other items you need to have a safe day on the trails such as sunscreen, food, hat, extra layers, a charged phone, map/compass, etc.

See you on Saturday morning!
