About us
On 4/7/26, this group changed hands and is now organized by Fork in the Path, an outdoor school for the adventurous of all ages interested in wild food foraging, such as mushrooms, plants, seaweed, acorns, sea urchin mussels, and more. Most events are within a 3-hour drive or less from the Bay Area. While our classes are listed on Meetup, all registrations must go through our website, www.forkinthepath.org
Most of our events are family-friendly, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

This experiential, hands-on half-day program is all about the fascinating world of Mount Shasta fungi and begins at 10:00 am. Learning to forage for mushrooms is an ongoing life path. In this program, Mikhael will teach you foundational skills to be able to go out foraging on your own. We will cover mushroom anatomy for identification, symbiotic tree and plant relationships, poisonous and edible mushrooms, and forest safety. In Mount Shasta in the spring and summer, it is possible to find edibles such as morels, spring porcini, butter boletes, and more. The program also includes community building, mindful movement, a cooking demo, and a tasting at the end.
On May 9/10, Mikhael will be joined by special guest Noodle, the Scent Trained Dog, and her human, Egg, for a special class on mushroom hunting with a canine companion and training them to find mushrooms. Cuteness abounds! (Please note: only Noodle is the only dog we can allow at this class to make sure she can focus.)#### Where
Mount Shasta area. Exact location provided with registration. You can get lodging or camp in the Mount Shasta or Dunsmuir area. Please plan to drive up to an additional hour in carpools from our meeting point to where the mushrooms are, they move around as conditions change! We scout extensively and will do our best to set you up for success and take you to them. We recommend staying at Hestia Magic Retreat Center if you’re coming from out of the area.
