About us
On 4/7/26, this group changed hands and is now organized by Fork in the Path, an outdoor school for the adventurous of all ages interested in wild food foraging, such as mushrooms, plants, seaweed, acorns, sea urchin mussels, and more. Most events are within a 3-hour drive or less from the Bay Area. While our classes are listed on Meetup, all registrations must go through our website, www.forkinthepath.org
Most of our events are family-friendly, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.

Wild Feast: A Cooking Class + Dinner with Chef Chad Hyatt - Berkeley

Join us for a fun, delicious, and fully participatory wild food cooking class & feast with popular and entertaining mycochef, Chad Hyatt
Under Chef Chad’s guiding hand, we will work our way through 5 or 6 dishes, focused on late fall/early winter. We will put together a complete meal, from appetizer through dessert. The class will culminate in a shared dinner.
We will provide all the ingredients, knives, and stoves that you need. But if you have a knife you like to use, you're welcome to bring it! Otherwise. just bring you, a tupperware for leftovers (if we have any!) and come hungry!

FREE Wilderness Safety - Tools & Tips (online)

In this free live & recorded talk with Marin Search and Rescue & Fork in the Path, we will share tools and tips to stay safe in the woods. Foraging can get so exciting that we can end up disoriented. It also puts us in places where we are in remote, off-grid locations. What would happen if we had an accident or became lost? We’ll cover:
- Basic wilderness safety tips
- Equipment to consider carrying: navigation, technology
- What to do if you have to spend the unexpected night out
- Environmental injuries, including wild animals
- Case studies that demonstrate how Search and Rescue works
This is a free talk, but advanced registration is required.

Join us for a mussel foraging adventure and tasting near Bodega Bay, CA. Take home mussels to share with family and friends. 11/7 or 11/8

Join us for a magical mussel foraging adventure on the Sonoma Coast. You will learn how to sustainably forage, clean, and prepare our beautiful California coast mussels – as well as an overview of the land’s history, intertidal zone ecosystem, and what it means to be a good steward of our land and waters.
If you haven't experienced freshly foraged mussels, you will be in for a treat!
A post-foraging feast of mussels on the beach provides the perfect gathering spot to learn how to care for your mussels, ask questions, and enjoy the view. Everyone will have an opportunity to sample the bounty of what we harvested from the sea and share their takeaways from the tide pools.
Each person will take home up to 10 lb of fresh foraged mussels to share, recipes, and instructions.About Fork In The Path
