FREE WORKSHOP - Improv Skills for Job Interviews

Details

In this interactive interview skills workshop, participants will learn simple and effective strategies to prepare for job interviews. Facilitated by Dave Collins (Oak and Reeds), the workshop will teach basic improvisational techniques that help reduce pre-interview anxiety and increase interview effectiveness. We’ll work on ways to prepare personal stories to demonstrate expertise, to respond to unexpected questions and how to recover when you’re stumped by a question you weren’t prepared for.

By the end of the sixty minute session, participants will have accomplished the following:

• Practice embracing uncertainty and imperfection when answering interview questions

• Learn how to tell your personal stories in professional settings to demonstrate transferrable skills

• Get comfortable observing body language and learn to use that information to your advantage in unfamiliar settings

• Know how and when to apply these skills the next time you prepare for an interview

This free Meetup workshop is sponsored and hosted by App Academy. App Academy helps exciting companies hire promising software engineers. More than 2,000 young professionals apply for just 60 spots in our 1,000 hour web immersive program. If accepted, they learn computer science fundamentals, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript and React. For those that make it through the program, they get high paying jobs with companies such as Facebook, Google, Tesla or Linkedin.
