📍 Meet at College Terrace Library, 2300 Wellesley Street, Palo Alto, CA
Step back in time as we explore the charming architecture and hidden stories of Palo Alto’s College Terrace—one of the city’s oldest and most distinctive neighborhoods.
Join us for a fascinating 90-minute walking tour featuring 17 historic homes, led by architect Martin Bernstein, whose passion for and expertise in historic preservation brings these buildings and their stories to life.
Did you know College Terrace was founded in 1887—before Palo Alto itself existed? Or that its streets were named alphabetically after colleges and universities? (Hint: one street breaks the pattern—can you spot it?)
You’ll hear how a San Mateo landowner’s bold idea, a rivalry with Senator Stanford, and a series of annexations shaped this unique enclave next to Stanford University.
