Give back by volunteering in the great outdoors here in the beautiful Bay Area!
We'll be improving local trails in our beautiful Santa Cruz mountains, or cleaning graffiti off rocks, or cleaning up our creeks or beaches etc. You can hike or climb, or just picnic, before or after the event. Most events will require moderate fitness, varying from just raking to digging or shoveling.

Trail Work at Portola Redwoods Park [March]
Portola Redwoods State Park, 9000 Portola State Park Rd, La Honda, CA, USSpend a few hours giving back under the beautiful redwoods of Portola Redwoods State Park, for our monthly trail workday! Tools and training provided as we maintain hiking trails throughout the park.
A moderate level of fitness is required, typically including 1-2 miles of hiking.
Please bring work gloves, clothes, which you won't mind getting dirty, and sensible shoes i.e. hiking boots, trail runners, etc. We recommend long sleeves and pants to protect from poison oak and insects. Please also bring lunch, snacks and at least 2 liters of water to enjoy on the trail.
This month we plan to work on the Slate Creek trail. We'll meet at the Ramada (past the visitor's center, then turn right, big covered picnic area):

If you've never been to Portola Redwoods, you're in for a treat! However, please don't just trust your navigation - look at the map so you understand how to get there. It's not hard but sometimes navigation apps get confused and try to take you on a route you might not enjoy. Also note there is no cell service at the park so you may want to download maps ahead of time or print directions.
If you send a last minute message, I probably won't get it. We'll wait a few minutes but if you're not able to be on time we may already be on the trail, and because we need to organize tools and such, you probably won't be able to catch up with us. Sorry about that, this is less of a casual meetup and more of an organized volunteer event. If you know before the event you can't make it please update your availability as early as possible, there is always a waitlist.

Portola Redwoods Camp Cleanup March 25th and 28th
Portola Redwoods State Park, 9000 Portola Redwoods State Park Rd, La Honda, CA, USWe are looking for volunteers to help clean up the Portola Redwoods State Park campgrounds on Wednesday March 25th and Saturday March 28th. Work will begin at 9:30am and will go until 2:30pm. Please arrive at the Portola Visitors' Center by 9:15. Please wear sturdy clothing and closed toe shoes/boots. Bring a water bottle and gloves if you have them. Lunch will be provided on Saturday only, please bring your lunch on Wednesday.
NOTE: No cell service in the park. Please be sure to have directions before losing service.
