About us
Inspired by one that exists in Berkeley, The Bay Area Round Table Book Discussion is a relaxed, show-and-tell–style book club where anyone can share and talk about the books and media that inspired them.
What have you read lately that you’re excited to discuss? Which podcast can’t you stop thinking about? If you enjoy thoughtful conversations about books, articles, films, or other media, we’d love to hear your perspective and explore ideas together.
We’re especially drawn to nonfiction and fiction, as well as podcasts, films, and articles that engage with current cultural, political, and social issues (see the Meetup comments for past topics!). That said, all genres are welcome—from contemporary and classic fiction to timely reads in geopolitics and psychology, from light beach reads and gripping thrillers to unforgettable poetry. We simply love great literature and meaningful conversation.
BYOP—Bring Your Own Passion. Share something you’ve recently read or watched about the world today. Come prepared with a brief summary to spark a 5–10 minute discussion. We meet weekly on Thursdays at 5:30pm until 7:00pm and occasionally Saturday early mornings.
