The daughter of a tailor and seamstress is giving away fabric and notions. Her father, who was a tailor, recently passed and she would like his fabric, linings, button, and other notions — plus a vintage Singer that still works —to go to people who would use it. All she requests is that you make a donation to the Alameda Food Bank in his name.

The photos are some of the items available. There is a lot of lining fabric so this would be a great time to get lining fabric. The daughter doesn't sew so she didn't know what types of fabric are in the bins. But there is suiting fabrics, a lot of solids - perhaps wool and cotton, and some fabric for formal wear (lace and organza?).

The location is in downtown Oakland - near the 14th St. BART strop. The exact address is private - so you can only see it if you RSVP.

If a lot of people show up, we may need to limit the number of people who can browse - maybe 10-12 people for 20 minutes at a time. I'm not sure how much space there is in the condo. It's her father's condo where all the stuff is. Please bring bags. And if you are seriously interested in the sewing machine, please bring a car so you can take it with you.

She said there are also a variety of kitchen appliances that people are welcome to take as well.
