🌊 Ocean Hike 5 miles 🥾 Wilder Ranch State Park 🏞️
Wilder Ranch Day Use Parking, 1842-1826 Coast Rd, Santa Cruz, CA, USHello Ocean Lover, Let's meet up go on a Green exercise wellness hike, enjoy the natural beauty of the Healing Sea, Beautiful Ocean views for our physical health and mental Well-being 😇
Sometimes all you need is an easy stroll by the ocean to refresh your spirits. This track along the Pacific Ocean north of Santa Cruz is one of the best places in California to do just that.
You'll see gulls, geese, pelicans, and other waterfowl and you might hear the distant bark of passing sea lions. If your timing's right, you might even spot passing whales on their annual migrations.
Wilder Ranch State Park is a CA State Park on the Pacific Ocean coast north of Santa Cruz. The park was formerly a dairy ranch, and many of the ranch buildings have been restored for use as a museum.
Another bonus: touring the grounds of a farm replete with antique cars, farm machinery, and other remnants of farming life along the Pacific in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This track is very basic: just start out from the parking lot at the Wilder Ranch State Park visitors center and follow Old Cove Landing Trail along the ocean. Eventually, it turns northward again and loops back to where you started.
The trail surface is a natural surface (dirt, sand, rocks). It is typically at least 8 feet wide. There are railroad crossings ...
The whole trail is estimated to be in the mostly gentle (5% or less) grade category. All-terrain tires or motorized equipment may be needed for the surface type and grade.

China Camp State Park is a state park in Marin County, California, surrounding a historic Chinese American shrimp-fishing village and a salt marsh. The park is located in San Rafael, California, on the shore of San Pablo Bay. It is known for its hiking and mountain biking trails, scenic views, and open spaces.
The park is named in remembrance of the Chinese fishing village that existed in the area in the 1880s. Shrimp netted in the area were shipped back to China and to Chinese communities throughout the area. Today there is a campground and a wonderful system of trails and views of San Pablo Bay. Deer, coyote, fox, and a variety of birds call the area home.
History
- Indigenous people: For thousands of years prior to the 1700s, the area was the homeland of the Coast Miwok people.
- Chinese fishing village: A Chinese shrimp-fishing village was established in the 1870s or 1880s, peaking in the 1880s with nearly 500 residents. The shrimp were dried and shipped to China and Chinese communities in the U.S..
- Decline and preservation: The village's population declined significantly in the early 1900s due to anti-Chinese sentiment and discriminatory laws. The site was preserved and established as a state park in 1976 after local residents fought a proposed development plan.
- Village Museum: The village area includes a museum with exhibits and artifacts from the original Chinese settlement.
