About us

The Bay Area Meetup group for folks enthusiastic about kayaking. A mixture of events that will offer something for every skill level. This Meetup group does not charge fees or dues. Just participate, have fun and expand your skills.

Safety first, an opportunity for everyone to get out on the water and enjoy the many great paddle locations the Bay Area has to offer.

Different Meetups are planned for all levels of experience. Some will launch from areas where rentals are available. Other trips for the more advanced paddlers who have their own equipment.

Kayak camping, and various locations are all possible

One safety note:

Unlike some other outdoor activities, kayaking requires a heightened degree of awareness and commitment to safety. While casual participation can be rewarding, please be aware that putting yourself at risk can also put your fellow kayaker's at risk as well. Kayaker's Alliance events are not guided tours, but are instead a get together of like interested people.

What Foster City is famous for? The stunning Lagoon!
Glide through navigable canals weaving around resort-like man-made islands (avg. 6’ deep). With panoramic views and calm waters, it’s one of the safest and most scenic paddles in the Bay Area.

    • 5:30 PM – On-water intros + safety briefing → Leisurely paddle (< 2 mph) toward Edge Water Place Center.
    • 6:45 PM - Snack break at Edge Water Place Center. A few coffee, snack shop and restaurants in the plaza, plus Osaka Marketplace (grocery store) offering a wide variety of Japanese to go food items. • Must wear a properly fitted PFD at all times.
    • A whistle to call for help in distress. (Some PFD models have whistles attached).
    • Boat light. A bike light or head lamp would do.
    • Snacks

This is considered a beginner friendly trip, with round trip about 3.5 miles.
We may cut the trip short and skip Edge water place center based on weather condition and paddler dynamics.
    High wind cancels the event.
