Worship at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland

Hello, dear friends,

I like February - I hope you do too. We get rain, wind, sun, whatever nature decides. Couple of sweet holidays. For some reason, things are a little relaxed: light is returning, the promise of the coming year begins to come into focus, we have time to think and plan and reach out to friends and loved ones... I know - not true for all of us, but a little pie in the sky is alright sometimes - it's February!

On Sunday the 25th, Jeanne and I are doing a morning worship service at the First Unitarian Church of Oakland. This is Jeanne's home church; she has been going for years. About a year ago I joined the choir, so we both go every other Sunday to sing in the service. The title of the worship is Lifting Up Your Mystical Heart and, in addition to talking about mysticism and the heart, we will share two zikrs with the congregation.

It's a great church, part of a very socially awake and active denomination, receptive to everyone. Worship will start at 10:30 and go till about 12:00 noon, and there will be coffee and stuff after that if you want to stay for a bit and meet people.
