Virtual Meetup: "Sorry We Missed You" (2019) & "Lucky Grandma" (2020)

Details
Fellow film fans,
we're starting the new year by reviving our online film discussions, until hopefully one day we can go back to experiencing movies on the big screen together.
This is how it works: I'll pick one or two films - usually contemporary movies - which you can watch at your leisure before the event. We'll then get together on Zoom for a discussion of the movies. The zoom link is provided in the invite.
I am focusing on movies that are available on Kanopy.com, a streaming service that collaborates with public libraries and allows for 10 movies to be watched for free every month (all you need to sign up is a library card). We will start the year with two very different recent movies ...
First up is Ken Loach's "Sorry We Missed You" in which he takes a scathing look at the effects that the gig economy has on its workers.

Our second entry is "Lucky Grandma" - in which a Chinese grandma goes all in at the casino in New York's Chinatown, landing herself on the wrong side of luck.

The movies may be available on other streaming services (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Tubi etc. as well)
I'm looking forward to reviving our virtual get-togethers - hopefully I'll see you on the 16th!!
Best,
Stefan
