Details

This month, we're excited to have two talks--one about AI agents from our sponsor, Cisco, and one about eBPF from one of our board members (who also hails from Cisco)!

Abstract 1:
eBPF is an industry-changing technology that is enabling a new generation of security, networking and observability tools. This talk provides an exploration of its origins, rewards, and challenges, with live demos to give you concrete explanations of what eBPF is, and how it enables advanced, high performance capabilities. You'll leave this talk understanding why eBPF has been called "Superpowers for Linux!"

Bio 1:
Adrian Iliesiu, CCIE No. 43909 (EI), is a network engineer at heart with more than 20 years of professional IT experience. Currently, Adrian works as a Developer Advocate with the Cisco DevNet team. Adrian advocates the advantages of network programmability and automation with a focus on enterprise infrastructure. He is an established author, distinguished speaker at Cisco Live, and a recipient of the coveted Cisco Pioneer award. Adrian also appeared on Cisco TechWiseTV, Cisco Champion podcasts, and DevNet webinars. He is the host of the Cisco DevNet Simplifying Network Automation with NetGru live stream on YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Twitch and Facebook. He holds a bachelors degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and a masters degree in Telecommunication Networks from Politehnica University of Bucharest.

Talk 2:
Title:
"MCP and VS Code Copilot Agent: AI-Driven Automation Scripting"

Abstract:
This talk explores an experimental approach to integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) with VS Code Copilot Agent to develop automation scripts that always reference the latest API documentation. Traditional pretrained LLMs often rely on outdated knowledge, leading to the risk of generating code based on stale API versions. MCP solves this by dynamically discovering and injecting up-to-date API contexts into the scripting process, enabling accurate and reliable automation workflows. Attendees will gain insights into how this method bridges AI tools with live API documentation, the challenges faced, and the potential for transforming automation development.
