Abstract:
As part of Intuit’s strategy to build modern distributed systems through loosely coupled capabilities, async event processing is key to real-time integration across products like Mailchimp, QuickBooks, and TurboTax. Developers spend excessive time wiring event sources, managing autoscaling, and adding observability to track statuses or resolve incidents. These inefficiencies slow innovation and create fragile, inconsistent systems.

We’ll share how Intuit built a serverless platform powered by open source Numaflow after finding that tools like Knative were too complex and couldn’t meet our scalability and operational needs. Supporting hundreds of services, the platform cuts integration and autoscaling effort by 75%, improves latency 60x at billion-event scale, reduces cost by 30% and offers built-in observability. It's also evolving to support Agentic AI systems to act on real-time events.

You’ll leave with a blueprint for building scalable, AI-ready async systems using K8s-native platform.
