**** Short talks *****
"Learning Python, the fun way" presented by John Exequiel San Jose
An excerpt on personal experiences giving Python instruction to kids: the challenges, tools and the possible future.
John is a Coding Instructor and Developer. With nearly decade in the academic realm he's dedicated a decent portion of his life to education, hoping that whatever he makes has a positive impact on our future.
"Towards automating Python code performance optimization" presented by Saurabh Misra
Optimizing code for performance requires expertise and deep manual efforts, and this barrier causes slow software. In this talk, we will see that modern AI-powered tools can now continuously optimize Python code in ways that resemble how expert programmers optimize.
Through live code optimization demos with Codeflash, we'll demonstrate the capabilities of such an approach. Finally, we will see how we can start to automatically optimize all our existing and future Python code with such tools
Saurabh is the founder of Codeflash, an AI tool that optimizes Python code through benchmarking—while verifying its correctness. He comes from a background of building performance tools at NVIDIA and building ML products at Meta.
**** Main talk *****
"Semiconductor Data Analysis with Python" presented by Mike Purtell
The talk covers the use of dataframe & visualization libraries for semiconductor manufacturing data analysis. Will show how to do qualification shift analysis, pass/fail wafer maps, & wafer location-based heat maps for process characterization and yield improvement. Focus is on the "silicon" in Silicon Valley.
Mike is a Principal Test Engineer at Cadence Design Systems Design Systems. He is a Semiconductor Test Engineer with 30+ years' experience with data analysis tools that range from primitive console driven ascii based tools to the python ecosystem of 2025.
Thank you, SAP Labs, for sponsoring and hosting this month's meeting!
