BB Photography Workshops — Curated Portfolio Shoots
Build your portfolio with prepared, directed studio shoots.
BB Photography Workshops is a practical photography workshop group for photographers who want to work inside structured studio productions rather than attend theoretical lectures or open group shoots.
The format is simple: the concept, studio, lighting, visual direction, model guidance and production structure are prepared before participants arrive. Photographers bring their cameras and work with direct guidance during the session.
The workshops focus on portfolio-oriented image-making across portrait, beauty, ballet, movement, studio lighting and selected commercial photography formats.
What “Curated” Means
Curated means that the workshop is built as a directed production, not as a random shooting day.
Depending on the workshop, the setup may include:
- Prepared studio lighting
- Experienced models or performers
- Art direction
- Makeup and styling
- Professional studio environment
- Model guidance
- Individual mentoring during the shoot
The aim is to help each photographer produce stronger portfolio images while understanding how the image is constructed: light, direction, timing, composition, subject communication and visual consistency.
Workshop Format
Small Groups
Most workshops are limited to 4–8 photographers, depending on the format.
Hands-On Shooting
The focus is practical image-making. Participants spend the session shooting, receiving guidance and refining their approach.
Prepared Production
Lighting, visual direction, model brief and shooting flow are prepared in advance.
Individual Guidance
Each photographer receives attention during the session. The format is designed to avoid overcrowded shooting situations.
Professional Studio Environments
Workshops are held in equipped studios or carefully selected locations.
Locations
Berlin and Istanbul, with selected project-based workshops in other cities.
Languages
English and Turkish.
About the Mentor
The workshops are led by Burak Bulut Yıldırım, a Berlin and Istanbul based photographer, Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador, award-winning image-maker, lighting specialist and photography mentor.
Since 2005, he has worked across commercial photography, portraiture, fine art, studio lighting and photography education. He has taught more than 5,000 photographers through workshops, private mentoring, seminars and studio-based training.
His teaching approach combines technical clarity, lighting control, visual direction and practical production experience.

ENGLISH
The Nudes of Istanbul is a group exhibition and accompanying English-language photobook presenting a fourteen-year collective fine-art nude photography practice developed in Istanbul and brought into public view in Berlin.
Curated by Berlin-based photographer and curator Burak Bulut Yıldırım, the project brings together 14 Turkish photographers selected from a sustained curator-directed studio practice in Istanbul. Five of the participating photographers are women. The accompanying book includes texts by three model-authors writing from inside the practice: Zeynep Renda, Su Yeşil and Marmelat.
The works were made in Istanbul over the last fourteen years through real bodies, real light, constructed sets, physical materials, model presence and explicit consent. The exhibition is not presented as a general exhibition about Turkey, but as a public record of a long-term collective photographic practice from Istanbul.
This Meetup is for the opening evening.

The Nudes of Istanbul ist eine Gruppenausstellung mit begleitendem englischsprachigem Fotobuch über eine vierzehnjährige kollektive Praxis künstlerischer Aktfotografie aus Istanbul, die in Berlin öffentlich sichtbar wird.
Kuratiert von dem in Berlin lebenden Fotografen und Kurator Burak Bulut Yıldırım, bringt das Projekt 14 türkische Fotografinnen und Fotografen zusammen, die aus einer langfristigen, kuratorisch geleiteten Studiopraxis in Istanbul ausgewählt wurden. Fünf der teilnehmenden Fotografinnen sind Frauen. Das begleitende Buch enthält Texte von drei Modell-Autorinnen: Zeynep Renda, Su Yeşil und Marmelat.
Die Arbeiten entstanden in den vergangenen vierzehn Jahren in Istanbul: mit realen Körpern, realem Licht, konstruierten Sets, physischen Materialien, Modellpräsenz und klarer Einwilligung. Die Ausstellung versteht sich nicht als allgemeine Ausstellung über die Türkei, sondern als öffentlicher Einblick in eine langfristige kollektive fotografische Praxis aus Istanbul.
Dieses Meetup bezieht sich auf den Eröffnungsabend.
