This group practices Zen Meditation in the style of Shunryu Suzuki Roshi, as taught at San Francisco Zen Center for over 50 years.
This is an informal meeting of friends who sit for 30 minutes and then read one of Suzuki Roshi’s talks together. I am a priest in the Suzuki Roshi lineage, and this is the same group that met at the acting studio in San Carlos for several years, revitalized and made public again.
If you usually sit on a zafu, please bring it along. The meeting place has plenty of chairs. If you have a copy of “Zen Mind Beginner's Mind,” please bring that too. If you’re new to meditation, please send me a note and I’ll be glad to meet you a little early and talk about the basics of this approach.
Park in the large north lot and enter the main church building; we're in the small room right inside the door. There's a handicapped entrance through the south lot, but we'll have to know you're coming to open those doors for you.
There is no charge for this meeting, and I do appreciate donations to help make the rent. Since the room is small, I'm going to freeze reservations once ten people have rsvp'd each week.
