Kennedy Fall Via Big Cedar
Mountain Highway 3050 Mountain Hwy. North Vancouver, Mountain Highway 3050 Mountain Hwy. North Vancouver, British Columbia V7J 2P1 Phone: 604-990-8799, North Vancouver, BC, CAAbout the Hike:
Kennedy Fall, Intermediate
Kennedy Falls is a picturesque waterfall which is often considered to be the most impressive on the North Shore. It is particularly lively during snowmelt in the later spring, with May usually being the best month to visit. This route also passes by Big Cedar, a popular landmark and one of the largest remaining old growth trees on the North Shore. The majority of this hike travels over trails which are unsanctioned and not maintained by the park. These natural trails have almost no man-made alterations and a few technical sections may require scrambling or the use of hands. Numerous creeks without bridges must also be crossed on foot, often through rushing water, while cautiously stepping across rocks.

The Wild Side Trail (West Coast of Vancouver Island)

Hoping for better weather luck this time round.
There is no need to RSVP "No", if you are not attending. We only need to know who IS attending. The "No" feature is there for people who need to change their RSVP.
(THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER EVENT. DO NOT OVERESTIMATE YOUR ABILITIES PLEASE).
Be sure to answer the questionnaire in order to be considered for this event.
When most people think of Tofino, BC, they think of surfing or walking on one of the many sandy beaches. But did you know that by taking a short water taxi ride you can escape the crowds in town and hike and camp on a remote wilderness beach? Head over to Flores Island, just off the coast of Vancouver Island to visit the Wild Side Trail.
This will be the May Long Weekend with possibly a day either before or after added if needed. Will be checking the weather the week before via the long range forecast to make sure there aren't stormy conditions prevailing again like there were the first attempt in March. We will be going during off season to avoid the crowds. I will have at least one seat left in the jeep joining 3 already attending including myself and will consider a few more if another larger vehicle is available for driving. So far we are a bunch of old guys going through midlife crisis but are very tame and well behaved. So be prepared for that (:Note: If the wild west coast weather is to narly than a alternate plan B comes into effect. May leave Friday or return Monday if the weather looks better that way and if the ferry crossing works better. Be sure of your attendance please. Chronic last minute bailers need not sign up.

Weather Outlook:
https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/british-columbia/mission/hourlyFOOD AND BEVERAGES AFTER HIKE:
Perhaps afterwards a bite to eat and drink at a local establishment to replenish those calories lost and to just shoot the breeze about the days highlights before heading back. Something I usually like to do. Open to suggestions.More info to those coming.
Carpooling:
Please carpool to events whenever possible. The high cost of gas and maintaining a vehicle make this a very sensible option for vehicle owners and allows those without a car to get to the events. While vehicle owners are free to set their own reasonable fee for carpooling, it is typically suggested that passengers offer the driver $10.00 per hour of driving (includes mileage and vehicle wear & tear). This is only a guideline and the driver may charge more or less depending on the situation. Please state in your RSVP whether you can offer a ride or need a ride, and where you will be coming from. Passengers, please ensure you show up on time and bring an extra bag for wet/muddy footwear and clothing. Also, please make every effort to get to a convenient pick up place for your driver! Please do not leave carpooling arrangements until the last minute – you, not the event organizer, are responsible for arranging your own carpooling to events. Thanks!DISCLAIMERS:
