Thank you for your understanding.Meetup 7am at Church parking lot or
Meetup 8am at Sea to Summit parking lot, Squamish. We'll proceed from Sea to Sky Summit to the Chief Trailhead parking lot, a free parking area.
Set out on hike by 805am after a group picture at the trailhead map.
The group size will be limited, so please join waitlist if interested. Priority is given to those who have a good hiking history.
Bring gloves for a bit of scrambling. Any scrambling involves risk-taking. It's a PERSONAL CHOICE to do so. You take on that risk yourself. There may be very little anyone can do to help with your climb up and down.
Check out this 5.8-km loop trail near Stawamus 24, British Columbia. Generally considered a challenging route. This is a very popular area for camping, hiking, and rock climbing, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through October. Dogs must be leashed. The Stawamus Chief Trail, known locally as "The Chief", is a route that every passionate hiker should have on their bucket list. Hiking Peak One and Peak Two together definitely gives hikers the most substantial views in the shortest distance. This hike is challenging despite its short length, with large stairway steps similar to Grouse Grind but even higher. This route is also very technical with a series of chains and ladders higher into the hike. The route from first peak to second peak, as shown, is actually a climbing route. Only hikers with climbing experience should attempt the full adventure. Most of the second section of the hike is intense stairs with all elevation gain, plus chains for the last quarter. Be very careful and take this area slow, especially if it has been raining or has snowed, as it can be quite slippery. This is not appropriate for small children and those who have not prepared. When hikers reach the summits, the views they will enjoy are incredible. There is really nothing like it when compared to shorter, local hikes. From the ridge, hikers will enjoy the views of the seas, Stawamus Chief Provincial Park, and the surrounding hiking trails. To access the trail, Driver must get a pass online, daily, at 6 AM, and during the summer season it is recommended to buy them as soon as possible since these tickets do sell out quite fast. I will verify this information thoroughly.
We are avoiding climbing down the ladder from the second to the third peak, to ensure hikers safety. We will descend from the second peak and proceed around to reach the third peak.
We also will start with Peak 1 and make our way toward peak 3; hence there will be added length and time and elevations gained to ensure taking the safest rout.Following safety first principles, and while we are avoiding the steps, as well path to peak 3 is not well marked, the leader may take time to evaluate to choose the safest path.
*Carpool fee is $8 cash per hour.

The Wild Side Trail (West Coast of Vancouver Island)
Location not specified yetThe Wild Side Trail (West Coast of Vancouver Island)
Hoping for better weather luck this time round.
There is no need to RSVP "No", if you are not attending. We only need to know who IS attending. The "No" feature is there for people who need to change their RSVP.
(THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER EVENT. DO NOT OVERESTIMATE YOUR ABILITIES PLEASE).
Be sure to answer the questionnaire in order to be considered for this event.
When most people think of Tofino, BC, they think of surfing or walking on one of the many sandy beaches. But did you know that by taking a short water taxi ride you can escape the crowds in town and hike and camp on a remote wilderness beach? Head over to Flores Island, just off the coast of Vancouver Island to visit the Wild Side Trail.
This will be the May Long Weekend with possibly a day either before or after added if needed. Will be checking the weather the week before via the long range forecast to make sure there aren't stormy conditions prevailing again like there were the first attempt in March. We will be going during off season to avoid the crowds. I will have at least one seat left in the jeep joining 3 already attending including myself and will consider a few more if another larger vehicle is available for driving. So far we are a bunch of old guys going through midlife crisis but are very tame and well behaved. So be prepared for that (:Note: If the wild west coast weather is to narly than a alternate plan B comes into effect. May leave Friday or return Monday if the weather looks better that way and if the ferry crossing works better. Be sure of your attendance please. Chronic last minute bailers need not sign up.

Weather Outlook:
https://www.theweathernetwork.com/en/city/ca/british-columbia/mission/hourlyFOOD AND BEVERAGES AFTER HIKE:
Perhaps afterwards a bite to eat and drink at a local establishment to replenish those calories lost and to just shoot the breeze about the days highlights before heading back. Something I usually like to do. Open to suggestions.More info to those coming.
Carpooling:
Please carpool to events whenever possible. The high cost of gas and maintaining a vehicle make this a very sensible option for vehicle owners and allows those without a car to get to the events. While vehicle owners are free to set their own reasonable fee for carpooling, it is typically suggested that passengers offer the driver $10.00 per hour of driving (includes mileage and vehicle wear & tear). This is only a guideline and the driver may charge more or less depending on the situation. Please state in your RSVP whether you can offer a ride or need a ride, and where you will be coming from. Passengers, please ensure you show up on time and bring an extra bag for wet/muddy footwear and clothing. Also, please make every effort to get to a convenient pick up place for your driver! Please do not leave carpooling arrangements until the last minute – you, not the event organizer, are responsible for arranging your own carpooling to events. Thanks!DISCLAIMERS:
