The Wild Side Trail (West Coast of Vancouver Island)
There is no need to RSVP "No", if you are not attending. We only need to know who IS attending. The "No" feature is there for people who need to change their RSVP.
(THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER EVENT. DO NOT OVERESTIMATE YOUR ABILITIES PLEASE).
Be sure to answer the questionnaire in order to be considered for this event.
When most people think of Tofino, BC, they think of surfing or walking on one of the many sandy beaches. But did you know that by taking a short water taxi ride you can escape the crowds in town and hike and camp on a remote wilderness beach? Head over to Flores Island, just off the coast of Vancouver Island to visit the Wild Side Trail.
This will be the best 3 weather days picked during the final week of March TBD the week before via the long range forecast. We will be going off season to avoid the crowds. I will have at least one seat left in the jeep joining 3 already attending including myself and will consider a few more if another larger vehicle is available for driving. So far we are a bunch of old guys going through midlife crisis but are very tame and well behaved. So be prepared for that (:
Note: If the wild west coast weather is to narly than a alternate plan B comes into effect. These 3 days will likely be during the week to facilitate a simpler ferry crossing. Be sure of your attendance please. Chronic last minute bailers need not sign up.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES AFTER HIKE:
Perhaps afterwards a bite to eat and drink at a local establishment to replenish those calories lost and to just shoot the breeze about the days highlights before heading back. Something I usually like to do. Open to suggestions.
More info to those coming.
Carpooling:
Please carpool to events whenever possible. The high cost of gas and maintaining a vehicle make this a very sensible option for vehicle owners and allows those without a car to get to the events. While vehicle owners are free to set their own reasonable fee for carpooling, it is typically suggested that passengers offer the driver $8.00 per hour of driving (includes mileage and vehicle wear & tear). This is only a guideline and the driver may charge more or less depending on the situation. Please state in your RSVP whether you can offer a ride or need a ride, and where you will be coming from. Passengers, please ensure you show up on time and bring an extra bag for wet/muddy footwear and clothing. Also, please make every effort to get to a convenient pick up place for your driver! Please do not leave carpooling arrangements until the last minute – you, not the event organizer, are responsible for arranging your own carpooling to events. Thanks!
