We are starting a new series called Deconstructing the Stan Manual. Stan Manual contains a comprehensive collection of models and we are planning to go through most of them one by one.

During the first installment, we are going back to the basics and will code up a linear regression in Stan. See Ch 9.1 (v2.17.0). We will fit the model to a public dataset (it may have something to do with volatile acidity) and discuss the model's weaknesses.

This is a great opportunity for people who are new to Stan. As a bonus, we will also discuss some basic post-inference decision analysis.

Both Dan and I (Eric) will be there to walk you through it. If you have general Stan questions, feel free to bring those in as well.

We hope to see many of you in February!

Thanks to our new sponsor Galvanize NYC for offering the meetup space.
