This is the “literal” yin to the yang of all other exercise and yoga classes!
Often associated with stillness vs activity, Yin is the subtle energy present in all forms of Receiving not projecting: Flexibility not strength, Patience not pushing, Listening not talking, Tending and Mending, not Fighting or Flighting.
Come and learn to listen to your body, “exercise” your connective tissue not your muscles, nourish your organs, and embody a lifestyle of Yintuitions.
Slow deep stretches, supported by props, adjusted by You under Doug’s guidance.
No yin or yoga experience necessary.
Suitable for Everybody’s body.
About the facilitator:
Meet Doug Binzak — a compassionate guide, counselor, teacher, and lifelong student of what it means to live fully and grieve honestly.
Doug currently serves as a Bereavement Counselor for Sutter Care at Home and has spent the past decade working in hospice care as a Spiritual Counselor, Bereavement Counselor, or both. His work has included time with Tranquil Care Hospice, Hospice Maui, and Crossroads Hospice. He has also served as a Chaplain for Mercy Retirement and Care Center and as a Night Minister and late-night phone counselor for San Francisco Night Ministry.
A nationally certified yoga instructor, Doug taught for multiple YogaWorks studios throughout Southern California and with studios in both California and Hawaii. Before dedicating his life to healing and spiritual care, he spent 15 years as a television executive in Hollywood.
Through his writing, counseling, volunteer work, and “Healing Yoga” video series available through Yogis Anonymous, Doug continues to share the wisdom and practices that have been passed down to him.
Doug loves to travel, hike among the redwoods, experiment in the kitchen, and cheer on the Green Bay Packers. Most of all, he treasures sharing this wild and beautiful ride of life with his beloved sons, Harry and Quin.
