About us

This mythology-themed book club is primarily focused on reading original texts from multiple world mythologies. This includes norse, greek, African, Mesopotamian, eastern and others. As much as possible we aim to ground our understanding in the original texts rather than syntheses or more modern fictions, but we occasionally make exceptions for movie nights.

Importantly, this club is for beginners and non-experts to read through seemingly impenetrable original texts together so we can all gain a better understanding. This is not a good forum for personal theories, ancient alien beliefs or modern pagan worship. We respect the source material and the peoples who produced them, but we need to hold these beliefs at arms length, acknowledging that there is much that is still unknown.

This page is the re-start after we accidentally let the previous page expire - we've been meeting every two weeks since the summer of 2022!
