Holiday Games at "The Landing" in the Crystal City Shops

Hey All,

Let's play games on Monday, October 9th at the Crystal City Shops in the open area called "The Landing."

This group is very beginner friendly, so if you don't know any of the games provided, be prepared to learn a new one. You are also welcome bring your own games to play with others. People trickle in and out throughout the night so if you show up late, just wait a bit for other games to finish or for more people show up.

Here are some games that are representative of we like to play.

The Process:

Folks come to the event either empty handed or with a selection of their own board games to share. The games available vary from event to event because different people bring different games each time.

Generally speaking, when people bring games to an event at the Landing, they place them near one of the back pillars in the food court area, which then becomes the game 'library' for the group. Members typically mill around this area until they find enough people to play something mutually agreeable. When you’ve finished playing a borrowed game, place it back where you found it, in the same condition you found it in (pieces in bags, all decks secured with rubber bands, etc).

If you decide to leave your game in the game library, please make sure the box is identifiably yours, preferably with your name and contact info on or inside the box. Many titles are popular and there might be more than one copy of a particular game at the same event. Identifying information somewhere on the box makes it easier to ensure the right copy goes home with the right person.

Directions from the Metro:

If you're taking the Metro, exit at Crystal City and you can walk to The Landing without having to go outside. When you come up the first set of escalators, turn right to enter the underground shops and then turn right at the 3 way intersection. Continue straight and The Landing will be the large open seating area on your right, next to San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

Parking:

If you're driving, park in the garage. Enter the garage for 1750 Crystal Drive on 18th Street and take a ticket. (You'll need this to exit, but there should be no charge since it is a holiday). Take the elevators up to Level S. The Landing is the large open seating area next to San Antonio Bar & Grill and Subway.

If that parking garage is full, exit the garage and turn left on 18th and left again on Crystal Drive. A second parking garage is located on Crystal Drive between 18th Street and 15th Street.
