The COVID pandemic has renewed the urgency to improve the quality of medical care. X-Ray scans have provided a vital tool for the diagnosis of numerous health conditions. For COVID patients, chest X-Rays provide critical insight into the health status of the lungs. However, for decades the chest X-Ray process leading to a diagnosis has seen minimal change.

Due to the lack of radiologists and Doctors worldwide, the need for accelerated reporting on X-Rays has increased. The team at BondWest has developed a proprietary AI-based algorithm called X-pulse leading to the detection of multiple abnormal findings on a chest X-ray in less than 1 minute

AI algorithms are now being actively used to reduce the workload of radiologists. It is helping the radiologists to understand the X-rays and support the decision-making process leading to a diagnosis.

What will the talk cover:

The talk will cover the development journey of X-Pulse including the selection of AI technology to provide the key X-Ray process functions to X-Pulse. Furthermore, how X-pulse algorithms are able to read X-Ray scans, make a diagnosis and generate a fully automated report ready for a radiologist will be explained. Some of the key lessons learnt during trials in a hospital will also be shared by the presenters.
