Learn how Neural Networks Work and build one from scratch with Pytorch

Details
Are you curious about how neural networks work and eager to create one from the ground up? Join us for an engaging hands-on workshop where we cover the concepts behind neural networks and take you through building your very own using PyTorch deep learning framework.
This event is perfect for beginners in AI or those with some programming experience looking to deepen their understanding of machine learning fundamentals.
We'll cover:
- The inner workings of neural networks: layers, nodes, activation functions, and backpropagation.
- A practical step-by-step guide to constructing and training a neural network using PyTorch.
- Insights into debugging and optimising your models for better performance.
Prereq:
- While you won't need prior experience in practical machine learning or Pytorch to follow along with this class, we'll assume some familiarity with Python programming language, high school linear algebra, and calculus - Checkout 3Blue1Brown videos on youtube to prepare for this class.
- bring your laptop
All other concepts will be explained in this class at a high level without diving into mathematical details which can be covered in future classes.
Spaces are limited to 100 for this webinar. Webinar link will be provided after registration prior to the event.
Speaker:
Ali Parandeh is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council, and a certified developer and data scientist with Microsoft and Google.
He is the O'Reilly Author of the upcoming book on "Building Generative AI Services with FastAPI" (June, 2025) and has led engineering teams at both multi-national consultancies and at tech startups across various markets to build and deploy AI-enabled software.
Agenda:
6:30-7:00pm: Conceptual Overview
7:00-8:00pm: Live demo and walkthrough in Pytorch with Q&A
