We spend most weeks in our heads: answering, planning, scrolling. So we're giving one Sunday back to the slow part of us, and to the slightly wild part too. On 22 November we're meeting at Praia do Moinho, in Carcavelos, for the first BeHuman Day, hosted with Heatual.

The afternoon moves between heat and cold. Rounds in a Finnish sauna with music, a guided breathwork session, then the Atlantic a few steps away for a cold plunge. It's the kind of thing you don't do on an ordinary Sunday, and that's exactly the point: your skin, your breath and your heartbeat get loud, and the noise in your head gets quiet.

Afterwards we slow down together on the grass, with an organic picnic prepared by chef Anna Elisa. This is where the day gets soft. After sweating and shivering side by side, people tend to drop the small talk. Nobody here has to perform or be impressive; we want a space where you can be a bit vulnerable and still feel held.

You don't need any experience with saunas, cold water or breathwork, only some curiosity about what your body has to tell you. Come alone or bring someone. Either way, you'll leave knowing a few more humans than when you arrived.

Spots are limited because the sauna is small, so the group stays small too.

What to know before you come

  • Bring swimwear for the sauna and the sea.
  • Bring dry clothes to change into afterwards, and a warm coat. It can get windy during the picnic.
  • Avoid a heavy meal in the few hours before 14:00.
  • Your body will thank you in the heat.
  • Towels are provided, but feel free to bring your own.
  • We'll have water for everyone but feel free to bring your bottle.
