Purdysburn Ravine

Grade: Easy-Moderate, 4 miles. Might be a little mucky in parts.

Note: For the evening walks, we'll meet at the carpark for Ravine NI (not Cairnshill Park and Ride)

Purdysburn Nature Reserve is a haven of natural flora and fauna through the heart of nature along the Purdysburn Ravine.

We'll walk through the maintained trails at the Ravine Project area and along the Purdysburn river. The terrain is mixed and can be muddy in places.

We'll have a cuppa and a chat at the picnic tables at the Ravine after the walk, feel free to bring a picnic supper if you wish.

Wear walking boots/shoes please and poles. Bring a fleece/jacket for sitting at the picnic tables enjoying the sunset.

This walk is £1 for paid up members, £6 for guests and non-members.

Carsharing: You can post up you need a lift or would like to carshare. Just give a general idea of where you are coming from (not your home address!) so drivers in that area may be able to oblige. Please give the driver a contribution to cover fuel.

From Forestside Shopping Centre, continue out of town on the Saintfield Road to Knockbracken Healthcare Park. Bear left at the mini roundabout. At the next mini roundabout, keep left, there's a small sign for Ravine at the top. Turn left at a sign for buildings 41-50, and follow this road until you get to the Ravine project. The car park is just after this on the right.

Public transport - the number 515/516/520 bus will take you there, also the 7a will bring you to Cairnshill Road.
