Hazelbank and Glas na Braden Glen

Details
Walk Grade: Easy
This is a 3-4 mile leisurely walk starting at Hazelbank, Newtownabbey along the scenic seascape of Belfast Lough, passing Gideon's Green which leads us to the ancient woodland in Glas na Braden Glen and then to the meadows of Valley Leisure Park.
Please note that Glas na Braden Glen is in Whiteabbey, not to be confused with Glas na Braden Wood which is near Mallusk!
This walk takes in a wide variety of habitats and landscapes, from seashore paths, up wooded riverside paths through both ancient and much younger woodland. There's a good variety of terrain and flora and fauna to be seen.
Wear walking shoes if you can, though trainers are ok for this walk. Bring a rainjacket just in case.
How to get there:
You can get directions straight from your home by clicking on the location in the map. From Belfast, head north up the M5. Turn right at the first roundabout for Hazelbank. There should be plenty of parking in the carparks, we'll meet near the public loos, which are beside the King's Coronation/Diarmuid Gavin garden.
Public Transport: Take the 2g bus to Loughshore Manor
If you need a lift, post a note and hopefully someone can oblige. Please give the driver a contribution to cover fuel. Drivers, please take money from passengers as this keeps things equal.
Cost for guests and non members of this walk is £6. Members who have paid their yearly subscription of £20 pay £1.
Can't make it, no problem, just update your RSVP so we're not waiting on you.
