Redburn Forest, Holywood

Details
Grade: Moderate with steep parts.
The weather is a bit changeable at the moment, but it's still great to get out for a walk, so let's go to Redburn where we can have a good walk. Even if there's a little rain, at least we will be sheltered by the trees!
This is a stunning walk through the beech trees as we ascend to a great viewpoint that looks over Belfast Lough and the Belfast Hills providing the land backdrop in the distance.
Drive in at the NIEA signpost where the old people's home is and park near the picnic tables.
The length of the walk is about 3 miles.
The paths can be a bit mucky in places and can be quite steep, but as usual we'll take it easy and get a breather when we need it. Walking boots/shoes with good grip. NO TRAINERS.
After the walk, we can go for a coffee, thinking maybe The Lamppost on the Newtownards Road as they do a good choice of scones, soup or even a warming bowl of homemade stew!
Follow the A2 from Belfast to Bangor. Redburn Country Park is signposted from the junction at Palace Barracks. Address: Old Holywood Road BT4 2HL. Click on the map and you can enter your location and get directions to Redburn.
Price for non-members is £6. Paid up members pay £1.
