Walk grade: Leisurely, approximately 7 miles (see guide below)
Although the weather isn't good enough for the day trip to Drogheda, I thought it would still be good to get out for a walk on Sunday.
This is a flat, linear walk along the early stretch of the Comber Greenway. We'll walk for an hour out towards Dundonald and back again.
The Comber Greenway is a 7 mile traffic free route along the old Belfast to Comber railway line. The path provides a tranquil green corridor all the way from the heart of East Belfast to Comber with views along the route of Stormont and Scrabo Tower. The walk is flat and easy walking, listening to the sound of birdsong in the trees which are just starting to turn green now that Spring is underway.
***We'll meet at the Eastside Visitor Centre***
There's plenty of parking either in Connswater or at Ravenscroft Car Park. We'll walk for an hour or so towards Dundonald and back again.
After the walk, we can go for a warming coffee, bowl of soup our homemade Irish stew at the Lamppost Café if you fancy getting lunch, please let me know in the RSVP if you'd like to come.
Walking shoes or trainers are fine on this walk, it's all flat paths.
There might be a little light rain, so please bring a rain coat.
Connswater is easy to get to by public transport on the Glider, or ask for a lift and someone should be able to oblige.
Walk for paid up members is £1. Non members pay £6.
Can't make it - just update your RSVP please so we know not to wait on you.
See you there! As always you can phone me on 07583 042962 if you're lost! Maria
