Ballyhornan Coastal Path
Details
Grade: Moderate, approximately 6-7 miles
This is a walk along the spectacular Sheepland Coast from Ballyhornan to Ardglass, in the Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The coastline is rich in flora, sea birds and history.
Our walk along the coast will take us past Guns Island to St Patricks Well.
This coastal path is undulating as it goes up and down some banks, but we'll take our time. The Komoot trail gives a rough idea of the terrain and elevation, but please bear in mind that it's still a beta option.
Boots and poles are recommended. Bring a raincoat and change of clothes just in case.
Please bring drinks and a snack.
There are options for refreshments, either mid-walk we can go for fresh fish and chips in Ardglass, or to Currans in Chapeltown after the walk,
Car sharing is recommended, so if you need a lift, post up the general area you're coming from (not your home address!) and hopefully someone can help out. Please give the driver something towards the petrol, the suggested amount is £5+. We ask that all drivers and passengers respect this to keep things fair.
If lost or late on the day, contact Maria on 07583-042962 by text or phone call. Old fashioned texts or calls are best when out walking, often there's not much signal.
See you there!
