Fragrance Lake via Two-Dollar Trail

Details

Please join us for a fun, moderately paced hike to Fragrance Lake via the Two Dollar Trail. This trail is rather scenic – expect to enjoy peek-a-boo views of Chuckanut Bay most of the way. Plus, the trail is roughly 4 miles roundtrip (including circumnavigating the lake) and features only 550 ft. of elevation gain – making it significantly less steep than other Fragrance Lake routes. We'll stop at the lake for a brief snack break and a swim for those so inclined. Come out and enjoy this classic trail, and my inaugural offering as an event organizer!

After the hike, I will be headed to Stones Throw Brewery (1009 Larabee Ave., Fairhaven) for a little happy hour and some food. ALL ARE WELCOME TO JOIN!

Distance: 4 miles

Getting There
From the south take I-5 exit 231 and go west on Highway-11, Chuckanut Drive and go 15.9 mile and turn right on Highline Road which turns into Cleator Road after crossing the Interurban Trail. The trailhead is about 0.76 miles on the right just before the road gate.

From the north, take I-5 exit 250 crossing under the freeway west onto Fairhaven Parkway. In 1.3 miles turn left onto Hwy 11, Chuckanut Drive and go 5.2 miles and turn left on Highline Road which turns into Cleator Road after crossing the Interurban Trail. The trailhead is about 0.76 miles on the right just before the road gate.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT AS OF THIS WRITING, CHUCKANUT DRIVE IS CLOSED BETWEEN OYSTER DOME TRAILHEAD AND CHUCKANUT MANOR DUE TO A ROCKSLIDE. CHUCKANUT DRIVE WILL HAVE TO BE ACCESSED FROM THE NORTH, SO THOSE COMING FROM THE SOUTH SHOULD BUILD IN ADDITIONAL TRAVEL TIME.

A Discover Pass is required for entry and parking in Larabee State Park.

Pace:
We’ll hike at a social pace. The full trail description can be found on the WTA website here: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/two-dollar-trail.

Restrooms:
There will be plenty of Mother Nature along the way.

Dogs:
Well-behaved and friendly/non-aggressive dogs welcome on leash.

Clothing / Preparation:
Swimsuit and towel; a light rain jacket might be advisable, although the extended forecast shows only a 25% chance of any rain.

No-Trace:
The Bellingham Trails and Adventure Group practices the "leave no trace" philosophy on our events. Besides the obvious stuff, this includes no tossing of orange peels, banana peels, apple cores, creating artwork out of rocks, or listening to the radio.

Cancellations:
Cancellations and No-shows: We will hike rain or shine. Thunderstorms and/or high winds will cancel the entire hike. If you sign up for this hike, out of respect for the group, please make all efforts to attend. We fully understand life happens, and you may need to cancel owing to an emergency. If this happens, no worries, please update your RSVP ASAP so others may attend. Finally, if you are feeling sick, please cancel! (You don't need to tell us why you are cancelling -- it's the honor system. We will assume you are feeling sick or are experiencing an emergency).
