Tour de Whistle Lake and Sugarloaf Peak Loop Hike

Details
How about a fourth of July daytime hike? Let's do a Whistle Lake and Sugarloaf loop hike FROM THE SUGARLOAF BASE TRAIL HEAD in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL.) For those who haven't been there, the top of Sugarloaf has a spectacular view of Puget Sound, the islands, and the Olympic Mountains. We'll also hit trails on both sides of Whistle Lake, which is quite pretty.
Total length is about 6-1/2 miles with a cumulative elevation gain of around 1,500'. Overall, it's a moderate hike, but you will get a workout with all of the ups and downs, as there are lots of them! Pace will be moderate, and we'll plan on multiple taking photo, snack, and conversation breaks along the way.
Because of the multiple trails and intersections, the group has to stay together on this one, and we can't have people ducking out early. Please be flexible and allow ample time for the hike. The end time is an estimate and depends on how often and long we stop along the way. If this fills up, don't hesitate to sign up on the waitlist, as I may adjust the number of spots.
This event will be cross posted with the Snohomish County Hiking Group, so the RSVP limit is lower. Please don't hesitate to use the waitlist if the event shows as full, as there may be cancellations, and I may adjust spaces between the two groups.

No parking pass required for this hike.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but note that Anacortes requires leashing.
Note that we are not guides or medical professionals. You are responsible for yourself and any guests you bring. Please carry the ten essentials: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Essentials
Location/Directions: There is no actual street address for this one, but if you search, "Sugarloaf Mountain Trailhead" on the Google, you'll get a location, which the map pin reflects. Parking lot is on Ray Auld Drive, just off Heart Lake Road and adjacent to the base of the Erie Mountain Drive. I recommend looking at a map to get a feel for the location. Allow extra time to find it if this is your first time going there. Message me if you have any questions, but keep in mind that reception is sketchy at the trail head, and I may not get last minute messages.
