Monday, Aug. 18, Evening Lake Padden backcountry hike

Details
How about another evening hike for the workers of the world?
The back trails of Lake Padden are a world of their own, very different from the lake trail, with lots of elevation gain, deep woods, huge trees, mud, and views of I-5 (??). Join us on Monday to explore them and see a different side of some familiar territory.
The route we're taking is 5.4 miles, with 825 feet of elevation. We'll start at the dog park, follow the lake trail for a mile, and then head into the hills. We'll then climb three hills until we reach the highest point in the park, before heading back to the parking lot. Most of the trails are well established but in a few areas they are narrow, steep, and muddy; therefore good shoes are necessary and hiking poles are encouraged if you're unsure.
Notes
- We will meet up in the dog park parking lot (NOT the main entrance by the swimming area). Use the east entrance (also golf course entrance), and drive to the end of the road.
- There are bathrooms at the parking lot.
- Dogs are very welcome, but will need to be leashed while on the lakeside trail. The rest of the hike is in the off-leash area.
Housekeeping:
- You must sign-up and be on the “Going” list to participate.
- If you sign-up for this event, out of respect for the group please make every effort to attend.
- We will cancel for high winds or monsoon rains. We will hike sun, rain, snow, or sleet.
