The Excelsior Pass Trailhead in Whatcom County, Washington, provides access to a strenuous hike in the Mt. Baker Wilderness, known for its stunning views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, and the North Cascades. Located off the Mount Baker Highway (SR 542) past Glacier, the trailhead is small but has an outhouse and requires a Northwest Forest Pass for parking. The trail features steep switchbacks through forest, opening to meadows with snowfields (depending on the season) and leading to the pass and optional summit of Excelsior Peak.
