🍂🥾 Annual First Day Of Autumn Hike along the Deschutes River beginning at Riley Ranch, dropping into the tranquil canyon, and continuing on to Tumalo State Park.This will be 6 miles moderate out and back RT. This is in a series of annual fall foliage hikes that I’ve been scheduling over the years.

This trail is all dirt and rocks. There’s only 410 feet of elevation gain. BUT, there is one steep section we navigate when we go down into the canyon and back up to Riley Ranch toward the end of our hike. If you have knee issues, this might not be the hike for you. This is where hiking poles might be helpful for you, but not mandatory. Bring water. No dogs allowed please. There are restrooms at trailhead and Tumalo State Park. No parking fee.
