Exploring Web Components: When and How to use them.

In this talk we will navigate different scenarios and team compositions that can inform if web components are the right fit for your design system. Following this, we'll explore the main differences between Stencil and Lit, and potential advantages and pitfalls of using this stack.

Maleh Duenas is a Tech Manager in JustEat Takeaway in the Design Systems team. During her career as a full-stack developer and UI designer she had the opportunity to learn a wide range of technologies to solve diverse industry challenges, including building design systems with React and Web Components.

Building a design system's component library

A component library attempts to translate the principles and designs of a design system into reusable code.

Typical goals include building a library that is future-proof, low-
budget in development and maintenance, while providing a large set of
usable components, and achieving a great developer experience and
consistency in design and UX for its users.

In this talk we will look at how we aim to achieve these goals using
modern techniques such as design tokens and web components, and
automating as much as possible.

Serafima Gurevich is a senior fullstack developer and tech lead at Europace. She started her career as a Java backend developer and dived
into frontend development along the way.
