What we’re about
Are you looking to go out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself?
I'm excited to invite you to a street photography meetup that’s all about breaking out of our comfort zones and diving into some cool topics in street photography. This isn't just about snapping photos – it's about doing things we've always been a bit scared to do alone and developing confidence in both our social and photography skills. If you're new to photography, no worries! We have had a lot of people in the past events using their phones to capture street photography. However, having a camera (analog or digital) is recommended for any technical improvements.
What will we do?
We'll kick off the event with some social activities to help us get to know each other better. A lot of us are creative introverts and this will help us connect and create a safe space where we can comfortably ask and seek advice and support from one another.
You'll have the chance to approach someone for a photoshoot or capture candid shots of people, always respectfully. The goal is to push you out of your comfort zone and inspire spontaneous ideas on how to photographically portray someone’s personality or appearance within the context of the environment.
I’ll be sharing some tips and insights on portraits and street photography to get us all ready for the challenge, and I'll provide support and feedback throughout the event. This meetup is all about facing fears, making new friends, and improving our photography in a friendly and encouraging environment. At the end of the day, we'll come together to share our work, exchange tips, and enjoy some food or drinks as a group.

A little about me. I am from Australia and I moved to Berlin 2 years ago to pursue my passion as a portrait photographer. I’m currently working as an independent photographer and I first started out my passion from walking on the streets on Berlin and approach people for a spontaneous interview/photoshoot, and now I've worked with several celebrity comedians like Atsuko Okatsuka and Tamer Kattan.

See all- Street Photography Workshop: The 4 Layers of a Great ShotTor Eins Cafe (toreins.de), Berlin
Hello challengers,
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll go beyond the basics of pointing and shooting—we’ll explore what truly makes a street photograph great. Inspired by Sean Tucker’s insightful framework, you'll learn to see with intention and compose with meaning by focusing on the four essential layers of powerful street imagery:
1. Composition – Learn how to frame scenes with strong light, clean lines, and geometric balance. Discover how to guide the viewer's eye and create harmony through thoughtful composition.
2. Subject – Go beyond aesthetics by identifying moments that matter. We’ll practice choosing subjects that tell a story, spark curiosity, or reflect human connection.
3. The Moment – Understand the importance of timing. Learn how to anticipate, wait, and capture authentic, fleeting moments that can’t be staged—what Cartier-Bresson called the decisive moment.
4. Alchemy – Explore the emotional and atmospheric layer of your images. This is where intuition, light, timing, and mood blend to create photos that don’t just look good—but feel alive. This is for anyone who’s ever walked through a city and felt the spark of a story unfolding—but wants to learn how to translate that into a meaningful image. Beginners are welcome to join!!!
What to Bring
• Your Camera – Any camera will do: DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone
• Comfortable Clothing – We'll be walking and observing, so wear something practical

Throughout the workshop, you’ll be given challenges based on these four layers to help sharpen your eye, build confidence, and compose images that tell deeper stories.🗓 Date & Time: [12th of July at 1pm]
📍 Location: [We will be meeting in Gleisdreieck Park. The meetup location is Tor Eins, Möckernstraße 26, 10963 Berlin]Gleisdreieck Park is a street photographer’s playground—where old train tracks meet modern life. Its bold lines, shifting light, and industrial textures offer endless chances to master composition. The park buzzes with life: skaters, couples, kids, and commuters—perfect subjects that spark real stories. It’s a place to practice timing and capture the moment as it unfolds.
Cost: €10 – collected after the session or pre-pay via PayPal to reserve your spot.
At the end, we’ll gather for an optional mini review session—where we’ll look at your best shots, talk through your creative choices, and highlight photos that embody the Four Layers. We'll also go for a drink afterwards if everyone is feeling the vibe!
