Perseids meteor night walk (6 to 11 km)

Details

This week, the Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak phase. So, let's try to do another meteor shower walk! Due to the nearly full moon, the conditions won't be perfect, but let's try anyway.

So, let's go to northern Berlin, which has a number of wide open meadows, which should give a reasonably good view to the sky - given the fact that we're still close to a big city.

We will meet at 20:55 at the S-Bahn station Hermsdorf. From there, we will walk eastwards, which will give hopefully a good view to the active area in the sky. We will pass the village of Lübars after 6 km. If we have enough of the walk, we can decide to take a bus from here back to the city. Otherwise, we can continue to Rosenthal, where we would arrive after about 11 km.

Note:

  • Please be on time at the meeting point.
  • It will be dark and we will go mostly along unlit paths. Having a flashlight with you might be a good idea.
  • You are all responsible for yourself.
  • Of course, there is no guarantee for seeing any meteors :)
