Saturday evening walk and picnic: M1 Rosenthal-Nord and beyond (10 to 12 km)

Let's use the last Saturday evening of August for a Meetup picnic! So, let's go once again to the northern outskirts of Berlin - where Berlin does not look like Berlin any more.

We'll meet on Saturday at 17:57 at the tram stop Rosenthal Nord. That is the last stop of the M1 tram line. (Note that the M1 tram line has two branches: Only trams with "Rosenthal Nord" in the headsign will get you to the meeting point).

From there ...

• ... we'll walk through the village-like center of Rosenthal
• walk some sections of the "Berliner Mauerweg"
• visit the protected landscape "Niedermoorwiesen" with many meadows and old fruit trees
• visit the Köppchensee, an old peat cutting, now an old idyllic lake
• sit down for a nice picnic during the sunset.

For the picnic, please bring:

• something to drink and to eat
• maybe a blanket
• mosquito repellent
• good mood

For the picnic, we might stay until after sunset. So, we might walk back in the dark. Thus, having a flashlight with you might be useful.

For returning to central Berlin, there are several options:

• The closest one is going to the bus stop "Lübarser Weg" and taking then the bus 107 and then the tram M1.
• From from Alt-Lübars, the BVG bus 222 goes towards Waidmanslust, where a connection to the S1 exists.
• From Rosenthal Nord, the M1 can be taken again.

Note:

• Please be on time at the meeting point. The tram M1 arrives every 15 minutes there. It is also possible to reach the place by the M21 bus. But note that we'll meet at the tram stop which is not directly at the bus stop.
• You are all responsible for yourself.
• While it is often possible to browse the landscape, please be responsible in the protected areas and do not disturb animals or plants.
