Yom Kippur: A Humanistic Day of Reflection & Renewal

Join Beth Ami for a meaningful, secular High Holiday service featuring live cello music, a Humanistic Kaddish, a symbolic Tashlich activity, and community connection.

At Beth Ami and across the Humanistic Jewish movement, we view Yom Kippur as the meaningful culmination of the self-reflection we begin on Rosh Hashanah. It’s a powerful moment to pause and ponder forgiveness of ourselves and those we may have wronged, to acknowledge our shared human fallibility, and to renew our commitment to being active, compassionate, and engaged in the year ahead.

It is also a time for remembrance while we mindfully listen to the Kol Nidre music. We will say a Humanistic Kaddish as a memorial and hear the call of the shofar one last time. After the service, stay for a modern, Humanistic Tashlich activity to symbolically let go of the past year and step into the new one with hope.

• 3:00 PM Arrival: Light "pre-fast nosh" and community welcome.
• Service & Music: A mindful Kol Nidre featuring dynamic cellist Anne Brennand, a Humanistic Kaddish memorial, and the final call of the shofar.
• Interactive Tradition: A meaningful Humanistic Tashlich following the service.
• Giving Back: We’re collecting non-perishable food and toiletries for Community Food Share. Please bring a donation if you can.
