🇮🇹🍕 BROOKLYN FOOD ADVENTURE — It's a go
TBA, NJ, US## 🇮🇹🍕 BROOKLYN FOOD ADVENTURE —September 12
There is enough interest in the Williamsburg Brooklyn Food Tour to move forward with planning the event!
FIRST PAYMENT — FOOD TOUR
The first payment of $89 per person is for the food tour ONLY. I will be collecting this payment in advance so I can secure everyone’s spot on the tour.
Payment Options:- Zelle: Al.gallucci@ductz.com
- PayPal: Al.gallucci@ductz.com
- Cash App: Al.gallucci@ductz.com
Please include your name and “Brooklyn Food Tour” with your payment so I know who it is from.
TRANSPORTATION — SEPARATE PAYMENT
Transportation expenses are NOT included in the $89 food tour payment.Once I have the final headcount, I will determine the best transportation option.
Depending on the number of people participating, I may arrange a passenger van, with the cost divided among those riding together.
You are also welcome to drive yourself or arrange your own carpool.
If you plan to do this, please let me know when you book and submit your food tour payment so I don’t include you when calculating group transportation.
For those using the group transportation, there will be a separate payment collected later to cover shared expenses such as vehicle rental, fuel, tolls and parking.
IMPORTANT FOR THOSE DRIVING SEPARATELY:
If you choose to drive yourself or carpool separately, you will be responsible for arriving at the designated meeting location in Williamsburg on time for the tour. Once I have booked and paid for the tour, refunds cannot be given for late arrivals or missed tours.BOOKING & FOOD TOUR PAYMENT DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9
I will close registration and collect the $99 food tour payment by Wednesday, September 9. After I have the final headcount, I’ll finalize the group transportation arrangements, calculate the cost per person, and let everyone know the amount of the second payment.
Looking forward to a great day exploring Williamsburg! 🗽🍕🍝
### 🍝 THE MAIN EVENT — ZESTY NYC FOOD TOUR
Zesty NYC offers a guided walking food tour through Williamsburg exploring the Italian-American community that has been part of this Brooklyn neighborhood for more than 100 years.
This isn't just walking around eating pizza — although there will definitely be pizza!
The approximately 3-hour tour includes 6 food tastings at a combination of restaurants, delis and bakeries while exploring the history of Italian immigration, the development of Italian-American cuisine, and the differences between traditional Italian food and the Italian-American dishes that developed here.
Expect things along the lines of fresh pasta, pizza, Italian deli specialties, pastries and cannoli.
In other words: COME HUNGRY.### 🚐 GETTING THERE
I'm planning to rent a passenger van and drive us from the Lehigh Valley to Brooklyn.
We'll choose a central meeting location where everyone can leave their cars for the day.My preliminary schedule looks something like this:
Around 9:00 AM — Meet and depart the Lehigh Valley
Around 11:30 AM — Arrive and park in Williamsburg
Early afternoon — Zesty NYC Italian-American Food Tour
After the tour — Free time to explore Williamsburg
Since the tour includes quite a bit of food, I doubt anyone will be looking for dinner immediately afterward. Instead, we can check out a few cool bars, wander the neighborhood, shop, grab a drink, or simply see where the afternoon takes us.
I'd like to stay in Brooklyn until at least 7:00 PM, which would put us back in Pennsylvania somewhere around 9:30 PM.
However, I'm deliberately keeping the schedule flexible. If we're having a great time and everyone wants to stay later, we can. Likewise, the exact departure and tour times may change depending on availability and what works best for the group.### 💰 WHAT WILL IT COST?
I'm estimating approximately $150 per person to cover the food tour and our shared transportation expenses such as the van, fuel, tolls and parking.
That number is preliminary and I'll give everyone an exact amount before anyone commits or pays anything.
Then you'll want some spending money for drinks, shopping and anything else you decide you can't possibly leave Brooklyn without.
I'm also bringing a large cooler in the van, so if you discover an Italian market, bakery or deli that makes you think, "I need to take THAT home," we've got you covered. 😁
Realistically, I'd budget $200–$300 for the entire day, depending on how much you drink, shop or bring home.A cocktail in NY will typically run $20 - $25 depending on the location
“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
### ARE YOU IN? 🇮🇹🍷🍕🍝
If spending a day eating our way through Italian Williamsburg, exploring Brooklyn and letting someone else worry about the driving sounds like your kind of adventure,
Then follow the instructions above to secure your spot
Mangia, explore Brooklyn, bring home some goodies — and nobody has to drive except me.
