What we’re about

Happy New Year, #Wildreaders! [Updated, 01.01.25]

I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for making our 2024 book club such a blast. We explored some fantastic reads and had truly insightful discussions (and often hilarious meet-ups!). This year was also the first time we hosted "Conversations" - our version of an author AMA with Anna Gomez. And, can you believe that our bookworm hang-out is now a regular club activity? A special shout-out to the bookworm hang-out regulars - we did not get a lot of group reading done, but we did have a wonderful time exchanging the best currency: perspective.

Because of this, I'm thrilled to announce we're moving away from our usual book club format (book selection through voting and with me facilitating) to a more member-led meeting. By allowing our members to choose and facilitate a book of their choice, we are sending a strong message of celebrating diverse voices and encouraging the transformative power of discourse.

As practiced, we shall release the #BOTM every 1st Saturday of the month and meet virtually every last Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The Bookworm Hangouts will continue to be in-person events every second Wednesday of the month. We're also going to be active on social media again (hurray!).

So, whether you're a seasoned member or thinking about joining the fun, we'd love to have you be a part of our 2025 reading journey. See you on our favorite Wednesday?

Best,
Mary

The BGC Book Club Guidelines:

  1. The monthly book will be announced at least four weeks before the event. Each event will be capped to 20 members attending to allow us to discuss the book in small groups and get to know one another!
  2. There is no expectation to finish the book, we are here for good conversation and company
  3. Two no-shows will result in a ban from the group. We understand that things come up last minute, but please be courteous and let us know if you cannot make it to the book club.
