What's New In JavaScript: Learn about Distributed Ledgers, IoT and Node-RED

Details

It’s been more than a year since Node-RED was contributed as an open-source project to the JS Foundation. Since then, there’s been staggering growth and a surge in use cases. In this meetup, you’ll hear from Node-RED creator Nick O’Leary about the latest with the project and where it’s heading.

You’ll also hear about many of the amazing projects—IoT, chatbots, natural-language analysis—that are leveraging Node-RED’s power.

AGENDA

6:00 - 6:20pm: Pizza and networking

6:20 - 6:25: Welcome / Intro, Max Katz, Program Director, Developer Advocacy (@maxkatz (https://twitter.com/maxkatz))

6:25 - 6:35: JavaScript beyond the browser and the server, Kris Borchers, Executive Director, JS Foundation (@kborchers (https://twitter.com/kborchers))

6:35 - 7:15: Node-RED creator Nick O'Leary (@knolleary (https://twitter.com/knolleary?lang=en)) provides an overview of the project, what's new and what's coming up. He’ll then detail how Node-RED is used in projects to power IoT solutions, chatbots, and analyze natural language.

7:15 - 8:00: JeanCarl Bisson, Developer Advocate - Bluemix/Watson Developer Ecosystem (@dothewww (https://twitter.com/dothewww)), will showcase examples of applications you can build in Node-RED using IoT, Watson and other services. Examples include: controlling a TJ Bot, capturing and visualizing IoT sensor data, and analyzing Twitter content.

Space is limited so RSVP early. Refreshments will be served.
