Our 24th meetup is kindly hosted by Ordina in Mechelen.
This meetup is focussed on introducing Spark:
• Functional programming + Scala (Andy Petrella - 45 min)
Andy will cover the basics of functional programming like immutability and expressiveness and how these concepts eases parallelization.
Spark is implemented in and exploits the Scala language.
• Spark (Toni Verbeiren - 45 min)
Toni will introduce spark and how to get into production with it. He'll show a demo of a working platform used to explore data in realtime by visualizing it.
• Spark@Virdata (Gerard Maas - 45 min)
Spark at is used at the core of Virdata data pipeline to process both batch and streaming data flows. In this talk Gerard will be sharing his experiences with bringing a Spark job to production, covering the supporting Spark ecosystem and some of the challenges involved in running a Spark job 24/7
• Anthony Liekens invites you to the Fri3d Camp (5 min)
