Ride Description:
This may be our most scenic ride. It takes us through Elgin wine country east of Sonoita, past cattle ranches, and to the lush Canelo Valley where we will stop at a "retirement farm" for horses. We will enjoy spectacular views of the grasslands as well as the Mustang Mountains where many western movies were filmed. This ride is suitable for C+ and B- riders as there will be a few regrouping spots. Lunch available after the ride at Corner Scoops.

Start Time: Arrive by 8:15 AM for sign-in and route rap. Wheels rolling by 8:30 AM. sharp.

Notes:
Ride Type: Training/Re-group.
Pace: Final rolling average 15-17 mph.
Terrain: There are plenty of hills with gradual climbs of up to 5 miles and shorter steeper hills typically of a mile or less.
Route Total Elevation Gain: 2039 ft.
Traffic: Country roads but with some vehicles moving at up to 50 mph.

Rules: Your GABA membership must be current. Please obey traffic laws and represent GABA well. Helmets are mandatory. No headphones. Front and rear lights are recommended. This ride is unsupported.

Additional Notes:
Bring food & fluids for 3-4 hours. There is no water available on the route. Sonoita averages about ten degrees cooler than Tucson so dress accordingly.
