Ride Description:
This 40-mile, mostly gravel ride, will take us through the foothills of the Santa Rita Mountains and Cienegas National Conservation area. We will have spectacular views of several mountain ranges, grasslands, and will pass through protected areas that are home to pronghorn antelope.
Bring food & fluids for at least four hours. Coffee and lunch is available at the finish.
This ride requires at least intermediate skills due to some steep rocky climbs and descents. 25 miles are on gravel roads and double-track. 15 miles are on pavement. Mountain bikes are not recommended due to the street miles. This ride is not suggested for first timers. Tire widths of at least 40 mm are required.
Notes
Start Time: 8:15 AM sign-in/waivers. Wheels rolling 8:30 AM sharp.
Ride Type: Social/Re-group.
Pace: 12 mph average on dirt, 15 mph on pavement.
Terrain: Mostly gradual climbs and descents. Occasional steep climbs, rocks, and sand.
Total Elevation Gain: 2000 ft.
Traffic: Caution on Rt. 82/83. There are fast moving vehicles.
Support: This ride is unsupported.
