ROUTE Link 36 miles/2029 feet ascent. 15 mph avg speed.
If you want to go on a slightly shorter and slightly slower ride, sign up with Tom's NW11 ride ROUTE Link which will be starting at the same time and location. This ride adds a 4 mile loop after the first stop, following the "Heisley Wants to Kill Ya" route.

Weather forecast (7 days out) COOLER with a high of 68.
9am -- 50 degrees, S winds 5-10 mph
Registration for this ride closes at 5pm on Friday

Route: We will share the roads with traffic for ~79% of route which will have shoulders/bike lanes. There are a couple of short low traffic sections that have narrow shoulders that we will talk about before we get there. Approximately 21% of the route will be on the Rillito loop.

Safety Reminders: If you come to a red light, STOP. We will wait for you on the other side. If you hear "Car Back", get in single file to do your part in sharing the road.

Begin: St. Philips Plaza South parking lot
End: Feel free to join us at Ren's Coffeehouse after the ride.

Water/Bathroom Breaks:
6 miles - Westward Look public restroom
22 miles - Ventana Canyon public restroom
Note: When using Westward Look and Ventana Canyon "public" facilities please be courteous to their guests. Expect both stops to be short stops.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. If you sign up for the ride and are running a couple of minutes late call John at 920-737-3902 and we will wait up to five minutes before leaving.

If you haven't ridden with us (John & Karen) before, I will not have your contact information. If so, please send your name, phone number, emergency contact, and emergency contact phone number, to John at jwvanderwall@gmail.com. The ride waiver will be filled out prior to the ride, you will just need to verify the information and sign it.

This ride has several short steep climbs that you should be aware of. There is a good chance that this C+ ride will end with an average speed close to 15 mph due to the amount of elevation. If you are not comfortable or not capable of this expected pace average, please do not participate in this ride. Note that this is a full drop ride. If you can't keep up, you will be dropped. Note that the slower group is riding behind you for most of the route and you have the option to wait for them if you can't keep up. If you think this may be the case, then load both routes. Riders are expected to ride at the pace of the ride leader and behind the ride leader unless the ride leader designates a section of the rides as a "ride-at-your-own-pace section" with a regroup area.

WARNING
An expensive bike was stolen recently at St. Philips while we were having coffee at RENs. Here are a few ways to discourage this crime.
-Keep your bike with you
-Park nearby in visible, safer areas
-Use high-quality locks; avoid cable locks
-Use GPS trackers
