Pennypack Trail

This is a reschedule of the recently canceled ride due to inclement weather.

This will be a 25 mile out and back ride combining parts of Pennypack North (Montgomery County) and South (Philly) trails. The North section is crushed stone with a short (~1 mi.) dirt section through Fox Chase farm connecting to the South section which is paved. The trail is mostly shaded which should provide some relief in case of a hot day. The southside has some rolling hills, scenic bridges and underpasses through heavily wooded areas. There are very few reminders that we are in an urban area as we ride along the creek.

Hybrid tires are highly recommended and road tires are discouraged. While the North section is in good condition, the Fox Chase connector is about 1 mile and is a dirt and very rocky path and the South section can be slippery if there has been recent rains. Helmets and fluids and a snack (at the turn around) are required.

I have had riders in the past have some difficulty on the southside so you should be comfortable gearing up and down on the rolling hill sections. Brakes should be in good working order as you will need them. There is a food truck near the end of the ride for some good food and socializing.
